True Confessions

It was great to get the good news via email yesterday! I just typed up a few little stories to share around, and here they are.

True confessions of a father: After sleeping over with a friend last night, Nessa complimented her host by saying, during breakfast, that the chocolate chip pancakes were the only reason she had stayed.

True confessions of gardener: When the pigweed finally grew taller than the sunflowers, we cut our last bouquet, pulled up the useless fence and mowed over the whole thing. New start next year. (And we found a lovely praying mantis who is visiting our butterfly palace for a day or two.)

Story of Tobin: The kids and I were coming back from dinner with a kind and lively Messianic Jewish homeschooling family with three adopted children. (Mom, they know the Adams very well, that family who took Honey our cat for us when we left for Taiwan.) Anyway, Nessa really hit it off with one of their daughters and told me during the car ride home that the mother had sworn some kind of an oath over them, making them into “real sisters.” Tobin, who had played very hard with their little hunk of a three-year old boy, heard this and said, “Maybe if we go back there again, that lady will make me into Stewie’s brother.”

And then here's one more Tobin anecdote, exclusively for the Stocker clan. This morning at breakfast he pointed at Elizabeth and informed her in a loud obnoxious (no doubt intended to be silly) voice: "You are a little baby inside of your Mommy's breast!" We tried to make it into a "teachable moment" but weren't sure what direction to take it...

We love you all.
